IndieBound is a socially-conscious movement in support of independent businesses and shopping locally, starting with Indie bookstores. It’s about raising awareness, it’s about reaching out, and it’s about taking pride in your community.
Go to the link at www.indiebound.org to find Indie bookstores – you’ll see East-West Crossings right at the top of the list for State College!
If you agree, sign the Declaration of IndieBound that begins with:
“When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for individuals to denounce the corporate bands which threaten to homogenize our cities and our souls, we must celebrate the powers that make us unique and declare the causes which compel us to remain independent…”
Get great book recommendations from IndieBound retailers all over the country!
And remember – East West Crossings can order any book that’s in print and have it here within 2 business days – with no shipping charges to you! Give us a chance to earn your business and your support – check out book recommendations and then call or email us at info@eastwestcrossings.com
Thanks for all your support – our mission, like all those who have joined IndieBound is…”to band together with like-minded folks across the country to celebrate our independent natures, our free-thinking retailers and our unique communities.”

Hello Everyone!
Continuing with our IndieBound Festival this week, we are pleased to announce that, this Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., Murphy’s Junction will perform for the first time at East-West Crossings – playing Bluegrass, Old Time and Country music. The band members are: Lori Brooks, Glenn Decker, Leslie Dyer, Bryan Homan, and Gwen Stimely. So come, clap your hands and welcome this new addition to our Friday series!
On Saturday, we have a packed schedule of local talent for all to enjoy:
At 11:00 a.m., Fran MacEachren will be giving the second lecture on her current quilt exhibit, “Earth, Water, Sky.” This time, Fran will be explaining the techniques and methods used to create landscape and floral quilts. Those who attended last week’s lecture were very enthusiastic and appreciative of Fran’s artistic talent and insights.
At noon, Ken Hull will be available to sign his book, Going Local. He will also be doing a brief presentation about writing and self-publishing his book. Ken’s book has been a best-seller in Centre County for the past year – come learn some of the secrets of how he succeeded with this project.
Finally, at 1:30, Birjoo Vaishnav will be playing relaxing melodies on the Indian flute.
We hope you can join us on Friday and Saturday as we continue to spotlight local authors and artists.

Dear Friends!
You have supported us wonderfully for over a year now, and yet we haven’t had a chance to celebrate with you the many good days we have shared at East West Crossings during the past year.
Looking forward, we want to celebrate this wonderful greening of spring- and we look forward to another year of building community – one conversation at a time.
Please join us at our Grand Opening Anniversary Party next Saturday, May 17 from noon to six when we’ll once again spend a day with tea passports and stations, food and live music, steeped in good conversation.
To thank you, we will be discounting nearly everything in our shop and will be serving some very special teas and gourmet dainties!
We’ll also introduce our summer menu, hold a book sale and drawings for door prizes.
To mark the occasion, we’ll start the day’s activities at 11 AM with storytelling for children of all ages.
We’ll get more details about the day on our website before then.
Again, on May 17, please join us to celebrate our time with you, and our continuing friendship. As we say every day, “Come warm your spirit, find your center, and enjoy conversation with friends old and new!”
With warm regards,
Joy and Ranadhir Mitra
